>> right now at 6, a redskins player stabbed at a popular night club. thanks for joining us. i'm will thomas. >> i'm maureen umeh. brandon banks is said to be recovering after a violent run- in at the park and 14th early this morning. fox 5s roz plater is live with more on the top story. roz? >> reporter: good evening, this happened in a rather unlikely spot and happened outside of the park and 14th, which is behind me here. this is what we're being told

happened. after 3:00 this morning, the police got a call for a double stabbing outside the park at 14th. the police say there was a confrontation between three men and investigators say the third man stabbed the other two and leaving one of them in critical condition. a spokesman for the redskins confirmed to fox 5 that one of the players, brandon banks, had received minor stab wounds in that incident. redskins fans are stunned at the news. >> that is terrible. i don't know why they would do that here. especially in this part of town. >> it's terrible. i don't know this area to be particularly violent in the evenings, that is surprising. >> reporter: brandon banks is a fan favorite. the kick returner just wrapped up his rookie season with the redskins and insiders say he's well-regarded inside and outside of the field.

the other man stabbed, we're told, remains in critical condition and is reportedly a friend of banks but police are not releasing his name and they have said they have a suspect in custody, a 24-year-old man from maryland and tonight, he's facing charges of assault with intent to kill. maureen? >> thank you. i'll take it, roz. a lot of talk about this on twitter. a sample, thoughts and players go out to redskins' brandon davis. it's a crazy world, here's to a speedy recovery. another, a little question as to why it happened, i hope he's okay. you have to keep yourself out of those situations and general frustration is common among people talking about this and all of this nonsense is getting old. grow up. i hope brandon banks is okay, though. another redskins player in the news tonight. albert hainesworth has been officially charged in assault

and a road rage. this is him going in this morning with his lawyer. he's charged in an assault after the traffic altercation earlier this month, rather. the other driver said hainesworth was tailgating him and sexual assaulted him. it's not -- and assaulted him. it's not clear how that happened. if found guilty, he could serve a year in jail or pay up to $2,500 in fines. hundreds of protestors who rebelled agai mubarak for days are cleaning up the scene. the coalition of youth movement organized the protests and issued their first list of demands. the transition to democracy. here we go: lift the emergency law, create a presidential council, dissolve the ruling parliament and amend or rewrite the constitution. they're also trying to decide whether to decamp in tuhrir square, called liberation square these days and demonstrate once a week to keep the pressure on or stay there

indefinitely. in washington, d.c., there is still demands from demonstrators who want what happened in egypt to spill over on into other countries. >> human rights now! >> egypt, we hear you! >> human rights now! >> these people outside of the white house are supporting the egyptian people while demanding human rights in other parts of the world as well and include representatives from amnesty international and citizens who still won't consider going home to egypt. >> the last thing to think about is to go back and live there because of all of the injustice there, but a lot of discrimination, even within social classes. so, hopefully that is all getting -- away within the next few years. >> the swiss government officials froze mubarak's assets as the concerns grow that the egyptian government might be hiding billions of dollars in illegal assets. here's more on the mean trail. >> reporter: former egyptian

president hosni mubarak may not have presidential powers anymore, but by all indications, he's got a lot of cash laying around. there were reports earlier in the week he was worth up to $70 billion. if that was true, mubarak would be the richest man on earth. but u.s. intel jell -- intelligence officials say it's likely in the range of 1 to 5 billion bucks. and that is a lot but is believed to be in bank accounts scattered around the world. he won't be making withdrawals from banks in switzerland any time soon, if any of his money is in that country. they want to, quote, avoid misappropriation of state-owned egyptian asset so they froze his. the swiss bank his $3.5 billion worth of egyptian deposits at the end of 2009, according to the swiss national bank. it's not clear how much, if any of that, belongs to mubarak. he likes to lylarge. the u.s. government gave him 9 gulf stream jets and he has luxury homes in desirable

destinations that it appears he paid for with money he got by using his position. after all, egypt's constitution has been suspended for 30 years, so there is no mechanism in place to stop him from skimming off the top and taking parts of major deals in his country for himself and president mubarak is reportedly contemplating the loss of that cash flow from his house in the beautiful egyptian resort town, sharm el-sheikh. >> fox 5 is keeping an eye on the latest developments in the wake of president obama -- president mubarak's resignation. go to our website, www.myfoxdc.com for photos and updates 24/7. new tonight, the gun fire ripped through an apartment window while a family watches television. take a look at the pictures. you can see the damage the bullet did to the blind and wall. this happened around 8 last night in the 3,000 block of 30th street in southeast. a woman, her sister, and four children were in the apartment. they say the bullet hit the cable box.

the police found 13 bullet casings outside but no victims. right now, there have been no reports of any injuries and there is also no arrests. a stunning scene on d street northeast this morning. where an fbi stakeout netted three arrests. the fbi got a tip about an armored car robbery at a bank at 31st and v stream. the law enforcement sources say agents were there and three men with guns tried to rob the vehicle. two men had hand guns, one had a rachael and all three gave up without a fight. no shots were fired but they did use flash bang grenades to overwhelm the suspects. the second time in 24 hours, an apartment fire brought rescuers to the same southwest neighborhood. they had to pull several people out of the windows on the second floor. a 62-year-old woman was badly burned. three young children were taken to the hospital with smoke inhalation. that was just one block away from the apartment fire that killed a 53-year-old woman yesterday morning. investigators believe that the

fire was an accident when it started about 6:00 yesterday morning. barbarael inson's home didn't have a working smoke detector, according to investigators. and when we come back, a woman is crying foul after being shoed away by museum workers when trying to feed her baby. >> other moms came to her defense. john henrehan is working on that one. a different kind of demonstration today in washington. this one a was well-attended --

>> about 100 new mothers staged a nurse-in today on the national mall. >> it started when a local woman was stopped from nursing in public. john henrehan has the story. >> reporter: when this rockville, maryland, mother tried to breast-feed her daughter on january 30th, on a bench inside the hersh museum of modern art in d.c., a security officer told her to move to the ladies room. >> if there was's coffee chair there, i would be happy to be in, there you know and that is it. >> no comfy chair? >> no. >> the security guard told her she could sit on the toilet. disgusted, she left the museum and she's not the only nursing mother unhappy about that incident. >> it's an outrage that he was told to sit on the toilet. does the security guard want to

eat his breakfast on the toilet? i don't think so. >> reporter: scores of nursing mothers descended on the museum for a two-hour nurse-in, an expression of solidarity for the natural method of feeding infant human children. we should point out that anyone visiting an art museum on any day is likely to come across depredictions -- depicts of female breasts. these moms were less interested in artistic irony than they were in action. >> this particular incident has to do with ignorance, you know, not knowing and not respecting a mother's right to breast-feed her child. >> reporter: as it turns out, federal and d.c. law guarantees the right of women to breast- feed their women in public and the museum publicly apologized for what happened to the woman and her daughter and promised that security officers will abide by the laws. the new mothers came to see for themselves that the smithsonian will let moms hurt without

going to continue to cloud over and the ridge of high pressure. we'll see a fair amount of cloud coverage. the winds, gusty and that pike peak wind gusts at 32 miles an hour and at national airport; 35 at dulles and 45 miles per hour wind gusts at baltimore and elsewhere, martinsburg, we hit 41; 46 in hagerstown and gaithersburg, 31 miles an hour wind gusts and those winds are in full force and right now, 49 miles an hour winds. 13 at hagerstown and as far as the wind gusts are concerned, we're hitting 25 at dulles; 23, martinsburg; 22, d.c. and 30 at annapolis. creating a bit of a wind chill out there also, our current temperatures now, 41 at national; 39 at dulles and with 35 in hagerstown. 37 to the south at fredericksburg and baltimore. if you look at the windchill, you factor in the winds and the temperature, we're's few

degrees cooler and that is in the 30s everywhere. 32, baltimore; 35 dulles and 30 at martinsburg. what is going happen? right now, you can see we have the pool of colder air to the north and things are warm to the south and we're going get an influx of the warmer air heading our way and that is some good news and dealing with the clipper system. we move into tonight and into tomorrow. that clipper system is going to go to the north and that is where that no is -- snow is going to be and we escape that. the colder air stays there, too and with that ridge of high pressure moving in and the things will warm up. by thursday, we get a nice&influx of warmer air and q3 headed for the 60s. tomorrow, though, we'll see a few clouds and talking partly sunny conditions for you. by midday, 49 degrees and our high is into the low 50s for

>> good evening, the redskins return man brandon banks was stabbed this morning outside of d.c. nightclub. we have the the latest from his agent who said that banks was injured while coming to the aid of lifelong friends. he was attacked by an assailant wielding a knife. banks' friend was critically wounded and taken to a local hospital for surgery and he was injured with a surface knife wound on the side, requiring stitches and is recovering in a local hospital and is expected to be released in 24 hours. he was not doing anything wrong and was not implicated in any way and would like to thanken
